Have Christians really become marginalized by the fear of being considered prudish and judgmental? As Christians, should we remain silent when “an intense Christian” who states, “If you look at me as a role model, I agree with it.”,(“Christianity Today”) decides to ‘get edgy” by “”pushing the boundaries’ by tarting it up in their panties”? Said Christian role model then excuses herself when criticized by someone who doesn’t profess to be a Christian, with:
The most heated controversy Miley has faced was over her performance at last summer’s Teen Choice Awards, during which she danced on an ice-cream cart and against a pole as if she were a stripper. Many, particularly parents with young daughters, were outraged—including Mika Brzezinski.
“Who’s she?” Cyrus asks.
“She’s the co-host of Morning Joe on MSNBC,” I say. “She became kind of a public scold over your performance. What would you like to say to her and to others who accused you of crossing a line?”
Miley flicks her braid over her shoulder, ready for battle. “My impulse is to say, ‘Get off my case, Mika. Get over it.’ But then I think, ‘Well, that makes me just like her. I’m acting just like everyone else who has some kind of chip on their shoulder.’ My job first is to entertain and do what I love, and if you don’t like it, then change the channel. I’m not forcing you to watch me. I’m not forcing you to talk about me. I would do that pole dance a thousand times again, because it was right for the song and that performance. But, dude, if you think dancing on top of an ice-cream cart with a pole is bad, then go check what 90% of the high schoolers are really up to. It’s funny. I don’t know if a lot of parents remember what they were like as kids. But I’m like, ‘Dude, as if you were an angel!”
REALLY?! At 16 years of age, was Mika putting herself forward as a role model for young girls, as a Christian no less? I don’t think so.
I don’t know about you, but I’m so surprised to discover that other high schoolers are doing worse. Are those high schoolers engaging in this immoral behavior on national tv while thanking “my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”?
My personal favorite is parents weren’t “angels” so apparently we should shut up and accept Miley’s sage wisdom: “Hopefully, I can influence people and help them follow the same path I am on, but it is not my job to tell people what they are doing wrong.”
Sadly, Miley’s latest video is another step down the road towards sexuality and immorality. That’s what the “tarting it up” is referring to. Again, the gentleman writing the article does not, as far as I know, profess to be a Christian.
“The idea that this nonsense is somehow “liberating” to women is simply laughable. Attractive women, talented women, and intelligent women (or those that are all three) have been victimized by “feminism” for decades. Here’s the big secret. Feminism, as defined in the 1960s, is a conspiracy perpetrated by unattractive, stupid and untalented women with an assist from sexually inept male hippies and sleezy leftist Bill Clinton types. The main purpose of feminism is to diminish the powers and achievements of “Alpha Females.”
By encouraging women to get in touch with their “inner whore”, the feminist forces have created a win-win for themselves. Nobody wants the feminist architects to be more in touch with their sexuality and “put it out there” because they are unattractive. So, the attractive girls are “empowered” to reject their own self-respect. Now, the unattractive feminists have a heightened sense of value. They can point to, and dismiss, the attractive sluts of society and claim a sense of superiority and increased relevance.
The men who are sensitive to feminism also win. By divorcing sexuality from higher, conservative notions of love and mutual respect, loser men gain all sorts of ground. Ladies, you should sleep with worthless hippies and sleezy leftists because in doing so, you are rejecting centuries of patriarchal oppression. That common sense urge to share yourself with true men of character and value is simply social programming. Be independent! Be your own person! Put out for idiots!
The girl who is so enlightened that she carries condoms with her at all times is simply preparing herself for sex with irresponsible, selfish and stupid men. Men who, before the sexual revolution, had little to no chance of scoring. Especially with hot chicks.” (More from Mr. Leigh Scott @ Big Hollywood)
Since, according to “Christianity Today”, Miley knows her “identity in Christ” and listens to her parents, Billy Ray and Tish, can someone with a brain go talk to this family? Is there no one who cares that not only is Miley on a self-destructive path, but also as a “role model” she is influencing young girls to follow her example? Where are her grandparents, aunts, uncles, pastors? Miley can say I’m “so old-school”, but anyone who advances their career by claiming to be a strong Christian should be held accountable, as should their parents!
Why are Christians silent as one of our own seeks to acquire wealth and fame at the expense of impressionable young girls, Christian and non-Christian alike? Shouldn’t Christians be at least as vocal as the non-Christians in our condemnation? Don’t Christians have a special responsibility to speak out particularly since Christians have promoted Miley’s Christian values? Are Christians becoming useful idiots for self-promoting entertainers?
